Having originated from South Asia and Central Africa, ring-necked parrots were able to adapt to living in a territory much wider than their natural habitat. Today these birds live successfully in parks, gardens, farmlands, and city areas in Europe, Australia, Middle East, and other regions of the world. Being flexible in choosing food sources, intelligent and able to nest in tree cavities, ring-necked parrots managed to adapt to human environment successfully. However, in some countries this adaptation caused problems due to competition with local birds and occasional damaging the crops.
