Ahmedabad: The chief minister Gyan Sadhana Merit Scholarship (CGMS) examination 2026 will be conducted across Gujarat on Saturday, with a record 6.28 lakh students registered this year. According to the State Examination Board, this is the highest registration in three years.The examination aims to identify and support 25,000 students from economically weaker sections with scholarships from Classes 9 to 12. Students who have completed Classes 1 to 8 in govt, aided schools, or under the RTE scheme in private schools are eligible. For the 2026-27 academic year, a total of 6,28,407 students have applied online. The exam will be conducted at 2,702 cluster-level centres equipped with CCTV surveillance. More than 24,000 blocks have been arranged across these centres. The test will be held in both Gujarati and English at all district headquarters from 11am to 1.30pm.Selected students may secure Class 9 admission in Model Residential Schools run by the tribal development department. Private school students may get admission in Raksha Shakti Schools under the 25% reserved quota.Students can download their hall tickets from the official website. tnn
