Rajkot: Rajkot Rural police destroyed 5,400 litres of adulterated milk being transported from Junagadh to Rajkot after a preliminary inspection found it unfit for human consumption.The operation was launched following a tip-off that Bharat Loh, a resident of Khakhratad village in Thangadh taluka of Surendranagar district, was transporting adulterated milk in his privately owned tanker.Acting on the information, police intercepted the tanker and recovered 5,400 litres of milk valued at approximately Rs 2.7 lakh.After collecting samples and conducting a preliminary examination, food safety officer S J Katariya concluded that the milk was adulterated and unsafe for consumption. Following due procedure, the entire consignment was destroyed on the spot in the presence of the transporter.Police said a station diary entry was registered at Jetpur taluka police station. The collected samples have been sent for further analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
