Ahmedabad: A 52-year-old businessman, a community leader in his society, was allegedly assaulted during a dispute linked to the construction of a place of worship in a residential society in Sabarmati. According to a complaint filed on Friday with the Sabarmati police by the businessman, who is also a resident of the society, a society member called him around 11am and told him that there was a meeting in the society office. He then went to the society office where several residents were already present along with the builder and one of the builder’s relatives.The complainant alleged that as soon as he entered the office, the builder became angry and began abusing him. “He started speaking to me using abusive language,” the complaint mentioned.“When I objected, the builder came close and started hitting me in the face, while the relative also joined in, hitting me with fists and blows,” the 52-year-old stated in his complaint. He alleged that he was kicked and struck repeatedly.He later called the police control room.
