Ahmedabad: Board exams test preparation, patience and nerves. For one Class 10 student in Khokhra, they also tested physical limits. Nitin Kumar Paswan, born with a condition where he cannot use his hands, chose to write independently with his feet despite being eligible for a writer. Captivated by the Class 10 student’s resolve during a visit to the exam centre on Saturday, Ahmedabad city DEO Rohit Chaudhary pledged to bear Paswan’s entire educational expenses. Paswan, a student of Rashtrabharati Hindi High School in Khokhra, is appearing for the ongoing Class 10 board exams. Though provisions allow students with disabilities to opt for a writer, officials said Paswan declined the facility and insisted on attempting the papers on his own. Over the years, he has learnt to write with his feet, turning what could have been a barrier into a skill.During his inspection of the centre, Chaudhary noticed Paswan calmly completing his answer sheet. He later interacted with the student and praised his determination and confidence. Education department officials said the DEO was deeply moved by the teenager’s self-belief and clarity about wanting to remain independent. He praised the student’s courage and strong willpower, describing him as a symbol of determination and resilience.Touched by Paswan’s dedication, Chaudhary, on the spot, announced that he would take responsibility for Paswan’s educational expenses. He also assured continued academic guidance to support the student’s future studies and career aspirations.Officials said modalities of the financial support will be worked out in coordination with the family and the school, ensuring that Paswan’s education continues uninterrupted.
