Kanpur: A 50-year-old labourer died after falling into a drain in the Panki police station area on Friday night.According to police, the deceased, identified as Harishankar, was walking past a safety pillar near a drain in the locality when he lost his balance and fell into it.After being informed, family members reached the spot, pulled him out of the drain and rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Police said eyewitnesses claimed that the deceased was allegedly intoxicated, due to which he lost his balance and fell into the drain.ACP Panki Amit Chaurasiya said further action would be taken based on the investigation.
