Balasore: A five-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 21-year-old man at a village in Mayurbhanj district. The accused was arrested and produced before a Pocso court in Baripada on Thursday, which sent him to judicial custody.According to police, the accused allegedly lured the child with chocolates from an anganwadi centre on July 20 and took her to his house, where he allegedly committed the crime. The girl later informed her mother.As the girl’s father works in Chennai, the mother convened a village meeting where the accused reportedly admitted to the crime. She then filed a written complaint with police on Wednesday.Investigating officer Sarat Chandra Das said the complaint was lodged on Wednesday. “During interrogation, the accused confessed,” he said.
