With this recognition, all 21 stations on Corridor-1 (IIT–Naubasta) have earned the IGBC platinum rating. The platinum rating is the highest level of environmental certification awarded to construction projects based on their sustainability and green building standards.

Kanpur: The five newly constructed elevated metro stations from Baradevi to Naubasta, forming part of the Balance Section (Kanpur Central–Naubasta) of Corridor-1 (IIT–Naubasta), have secured the platinum rating by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).With this recognition, all 21 stations on Corridor-1 (IIT–Naubasta) have earned the IGBC platinum rating. The platinum rating is the highest level of environmental certification awarded to construction projects based on their sustainability and green building standards. The five newly certified stations are Baradevi, Kidwai Nagar, Vasant Vihar, Bauddh Nagar and Naubasta.Earlier, in Dec 2021, IGBC conferred platinum rating on all nine elevated stations between IIT and Moti Jheel, followed by all seven underground stations between Chunniganj and Transport Nagar in Sept 2025. The certification has been awarded following a comprehensive assessment conducted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).Sushil Kumar, managing director, UPMRC, said, “From the very design stage, we ensure that every metro facility is developed in accordance with the highest standards of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.”
