Times News NetworkKanpur: A total of 458 students of Cooperative Estate Shiksha Sadan Junior High School in Udyog Nagar received free textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, school bags, shoes, socks, undergarments and other educational material under the Seva Pakhwada programme organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.Ramesh Awasthi, MP, and school committee chairman Ajay Kapoor, a former chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, distributed the material at the school at 46-B, Udyog Nagar. The programme began with a welcome song and Vande Mataram by students. Cooperative Estate chairman Vijay Kapoor and local entrepreneurs welcomed Awasthi with an angavastram, memento and bouquet.Vijay Kapoor said Cooperative Estate has been operating the school since 2003, providing children with free education, notebooks, textbooks, uniforms, sweaters, undergarments, shoes, socks, ties, belts and other essential educational material. Efforts were also being made to provide students with free afternoon meals.He said more than 25,000 students had studied at the school and improved their lives while bringing credit to their families and society. The institution aimed to ensure financial hardship did not obstruct any child’s education, he added. He also praised the school’s women teachers for their dedication to educating children.Awasthi commended Vijay Kapoor’s initiative to provide free education to children of labourers’ and belonging to economically weaker families. He also thanked Udyog Nagar entrepreneurs supporting the provision of free educational material and other essentials.Ajay Kapoor urged the students to draw inspiration from Missile Man APJ Abdul Kalam and study with hard work, discipline and dedication.
