Gurgaon: An unidentified burglar broke into a house in Sector 45 in the early hours of March 13 and decamped with cash, a mobile phone, a Rado watch and other valuables. According to an FIR registered at Sector 40 police station, complainant Sunil Kumar Sharma, a retired govt officer, said he was asleep when he heard a noise around 3am. On waking, he found his room door open and curtains drawn aside. He spotted a man jumping off the balcony and fleeing. Sharma chased the suspect, but he escaped through a vacant plot adjacent to the house. Police said the movement was captured on a neighbour’s CCTV camera.The stolen items include a Redmi 9 Pro mobile phone, a wallet containing Rs 2,200, a Rado watch, a metro card, bank cards and an Aadhaar card. The accused remains unidentified. Police have registered a case under Section 305 (theft in a dwelling house) of the BNS at Sector 40 police station. “We have registered the case and will soon trace the accused,” a police official said, adding that CCTV footage and other evidence from the spot are being analysed. In a separate incident, gold jewellery weighing around 8–9 tolas and Rs 1 lakh in cash were stolen from a house in Sushant Lok Phase-1, with suspicion falling on domestic help who had access to the residence. Complainant Pooja Yadav told police the theft came to light on the night of Feb 7 when she returned home around 10.30pm after walking her dog and found a gold locket on her bed, though it had been kept inside a bed storage box. On checking, she found two gold chains, a gold coin and 8–10 pairs of gold earrings missing from a jewellery bag. She also discovered Rs 1 lakh missing from a locked wooden almirah, while the remaining cash was untouched. Yadav said the locker keys were hidden inside the same compartment, raising suspicion of insider involvement. Two domestic workers, a cook and a cleaner from Kanhai village, had regular access to the house. Police said a case has been registered at Sushant Lok police station and investigation is underway.
