Kanpur: A 35-year-old man who was severely injured in a hit-and-run incident on the Barra Highway on Saturday afternoon died late at night while undergoing treatment at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.His grandfather told police that the deceased, identified as Amit Dwivedi, was returning after attending his friend’s father’s funeral when an unidentified vehicle rammed into his bike from behind at Barra-6, throwing him several feet away.Police said the man sustained critical head injuries and internal injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Saket Nagar.However, considering his critical condition, doctors referred him to LLR Hospital, where he died during treatment.Barra police station inspector Ravindra Kumar Srivastava said police has sent the body for postmortem.He added that CCTV footage from cameras installed near the accident site was being analysed to identify the vehicle and its driver, who fled the spot after the accident.
