Rajkot: Two youths with a habit of recklessly speeding their motorcycle through a crowded residential area allegedly murdered a 35-year-old man in Bhavnagar city on Sunday night after he requested them to stop driving dangerously.The victim, Rohit alias Gopal Bariya, was stabbed multiple times by Yuvraj Parmar and Gautam Parmar. They also attacked Rohit’s cousins, Bharat Vaja and Manisha, with the same knife when they attempted to intervene.Rohit succumbed to excessive blood loss on the spot, while Bharat and Manisha were rushed to Sir T Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.Preliminary investigation revealed that Yuvraj and Gautam often rode their bike at high speed while continuously honking in the Karachaliyapara locality. Rohit had noticed their rash behaviour previously. On Sunday night, when the duo again sped past the house of Rohit’s uncle, he signalled them to stop. He reportedly told them their speeding posed a serious risk, especially to children who played in the area. The altercation escalated with one of the assailants pulling out a knife and stabbing Rohit multiple times. When Bharat and Manisha attempted to stop the attack, the duo turned on them and stabbed them as well. Rohit was employed at a private company, and the assailants, who lived in the same neighbourhood, were known to him. Based on a complaint lodged by Bharat Vaja, a case of murder and assault was registered at the Ganga Jaliya Police Station under the relevant sections of the BNS.Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused, who fled the scene after the crime.
