Vadodara: To strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy among children under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), a 35-day vacation learning initiative called ‘Vidyapath Project’ was launched at PM Shri Sajna Talavadi Primary School in Karamsad of Anand district. The project has been introduced under the ‘NIPUN Bharat’ programme, which aims to ensure that every child attains foundational reading, writing and numeracy skills by the end of Class 3.The initiative aligns with the national vision of improving learning outcomes among children three and nine years of age through stronger pre-primary and early primary education.Officials said weak foundational learning often becomes a hurdle in higher education, as reading ability and comprehension are closely linked to performance in other subjects. With the target of achieving 100% foundational literacy and numeracy by 2026-27, the Anand district administration has undertaken this special initiative. The 35-day vacation project has been designed to help children become proficient according to their age and grade level through focused academic activities. The project was inaugurated by Archana Prajapati, district primary education officer, who called on schools in the district to emerge as quality institutions free from deficiencies in foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN).On the occasion, an exhibition of artworks and models made by students under the ‘Skill University’ initiative was also organized at the school.
