Varanasi: Turning pathology lab of Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital at Pandeypur into a venue for liquor party cost lab technician and two outsourced staff dear, as process for termination of their services was initiated on Sunday.The accused came on the radar of senior health officials as also district magistrate Satyendra Kumar after a video showing them consuming liquor and snacks laid on the main table of the lab during their duty hours went viral on social media on Saturday evening. Despite the videographic evidence, hospital administration and senior health officials were hesitant in expediting investigation and taking action. When DM sought report on the episode, health officials investigated on Sunday and submitted their report to him. The DM said that, based on the report, a letter was sent to director (paramedical) of the state to initiate the process of termination against the lab technician, while the agency that provided the two outsourced staff was also issued a notice to terminate their services.On Saturday evening, four videos went viral on social media showing the accused sitting inside the pathology lab in front of testing machines with three glasses of alcohol on the table.Blood samples of patients coming to the OPD and emergency are investigated in this lab. Besides, samples of several essential tests of pregnant women coming to the MCH wing are also sent here for examination.
