According to police, around 11 labourers and the driver, all from Barepura village in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district, were travelling in the Eeco.

SONIPAT: Three labourers were killed and nine others injured after an Eeco car carrying them collided with a truck on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway near Gopalpur village in Kharkhoda early Thursday morning.The accident took place at around 5am when the labourers were travelling towards Jhajjar for agricultural work. According to police, around 11 labourers and the driver, all from Barepura village in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit district, were travelling in the Eeco.The collision was so severe that the Eeco was badly damaged. Three occupants died on the spot, while nine others sustained injuries.Following the accident, police and local responders reached the spot and shifted the injured to the government hospital in Kharkhoda. The condition of the injured is reported to be serious.The bodies of the three deceased were sent to the Civil Hospital in Sonipat for postmortem examination. Police have also begun the process of establishing the identities of the deceased and informing their families.Kharkhoda police station SHO inspector Anil Kumar said the accident occurred at around 5am.“Three people died in the accident, while nine others were injured. The injured have been admitted to Kharkhoda hospital, and the bodies of the deceased have been sent to Sonipat Civil Hospital for postmortem,” he said.Inspector Kumar said all those involved were residents of Uttar Pradesh and that an investigation was underway to determine the circumstances leading to the collision.“An investigation is in progress. Legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible for the accident,” he said.Police have removed the damaged vehicles from the expressway and are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash. The exact cause of the collision will be established after the investigation.
