Kendrapada: Two days after a deadly explosion at an alleged illegal firecracker manufacturing unit in Jagatsinghpur district’s Mahilo village, police on Saturday busted two illegal cracker-making units in the village and arrested three persons. The accused, Abhimanyu Nayak (68), Nrusingh Charan Rout (52) and Suresh Chandra Das (56), were allegedly engaged in the illegal manufacture of firecrackers and crude bombs. Police seized a large quantity of firecrackers, gunpowder, bombs and other explosive materials during raids on their houses. The crackdown comes in the wake of the Oct 8 explosion at Mahilo village that killed a father-son duo and left three others, including two women, with severe burn injuries. Investigators suspect the blast occurred at an illegal firecracker manufacturing unit.
