Chennai: Maximum temperature increased by 1oC–3oC at a few places in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Madurai, Vellore, Tiruchi, and Tiruttani, on Sunday. However, there was largely no change in most parts of the state, Puducherry, and Karaikal in the past 24 hours.As of 5:30pm on Sunday, Madurai airport, at 40.2oC, logged the highest maximum temperature for the day, as against the normally observed maximum of 37.7oC. In Chennai (Nungambakkam), the maximum temperature stood at 38.1oC. Meenambakkam and Nungambakkam recorded relative humidity levels of 48% and 69%, respectively.Over the next two days, owing to humid air and maximum temperatures being above normal by about 2oC–3oC at isolated places, hot and discomforting weather is very likely at isolated pockets over TN, Puducherry, and Karaikal.However, light to moderate rain is also likely at isolated places over TN, Puducherry, and Karaikal over the next week.
