Rajkot: A 27-year-old businessman was killed after his car collided head-on with a truck near Aji Dam on the outskirts of Rajkot on Saturday evening.The accident took place on the Lapasari-Vadali Chowkdi stretch near Kalipat village. The deceased was identified as Jaydeep Vekariya, a resident of the Green Park area on Kothariya Road in Rajkot city.
According to police, the truck was travelling from Kalipat towards Shubh Chowkdi, while the car was approaching from the opposite direction. The two vehicles collided head-on under circumstances that are yet to be established.The impact of the collision left the car badly mangled, trapping the driver inside. The Rajkot Municipal Corporation fire department used a hydraulic spreader and other rescue equipment to cut open the wreckage and retrieve Vekariya’s body.Police registered an accidental death case at Aji Dam police station. Officials said further legal proceedings will be initiated after the victim’s family files a formal complaint after the last rites.The incident briefly disrupted traffic on the stretch as rescue teams cleared the wreckage and police carried out spot inspection and documentation before restoring normal movement.
