T’puram: A 26-year-old Technopark employee died after falling into a river while trying to save her friend who slipped into the water at Thavakkal, Vithura on Thursday afternoon.The deceased was identified as Anupama, a native of Kamaleswaram.According to reports, Anupama and her friends were walking on the steps near the river when one of her friends slipped and fell into the water. Anupama jumped in to rescue her but was swept away by strong currents. Though her friends managed to save the woman who had fallen into the river, Anupama went missing.Some migrant workers who were in the area rushed to the spot and later pulled her out of the waters. Though she was rushed to Vithura taluk hospital, doctors declared her dead on arrival.The body has been shifted to MCH for postmortem. TNN
