Exercise caution before you click on any link or open attachments.B K MishraPatna: In a tragic incident, a final semester LLM student of Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Mayank Raj, committed suicide in his hostel room here on Tuesday afternoon, creating a pall of gloom on the campus.Informing about the incident here on Wednesday, CNLU registrar S P Singh said soon after receiving the news of the shocking incident, the university administration accompanied by the resident doctor and medical staff immediately rushed the student to Medanta Hospital at Kankarbagh.CNLU registrar promptly informed the local police authorities as well as the family members of the student about the incident. Despite all possible efforts, the boy could not be saved.The police, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, reached the university campus and made necessary inquiries about the incident. The police also reached Medanta Hospital and initiated a detailed investigation into the matter the same day.Mayank, a resident of Rajendra Prasad Boys’ Hall at CNLU, was cremated at Gulbi Ghat on Wednesday in presence of his family members, students and faculty members.Later, a condolence meeting was held under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Faizan Mustafa in which teachers, staff and students offered prayers and paid tribute to the departed soul.Expressing his heartfelt grief on the tragic loss of one of the university’s bright and promising students, the VC appealed to all students that, in times of distress or emotional difficulty, they should not hesitate to seek support from their faculty members, parents, peer groups, hostel staff, friends, or the university administration. He further urged students to refrain from taking any extreme or life-threatening steps.All the classes and examinations scheduled for the day were suspended in memory of the student.The police are investigating the details of the incident with all possible angles.—
