Status: Not ApprovedHEAD: 24_Noi_AP_NaddaByline: Ayantika PalUnion health minister inaugurates ai enabled e icu command centre connecting yashoda medicity with mmg district hospitalUnion Health minister J P Nadda on Monday inaugurated an artificial intelligence-enabled e-ICU command centre that connects Yashoda Medicity with MMG District Hospital, a move aimed at strengthening critical care support in govt healthcare facilities through remote specialist supervision.As per officials, the command centre will enable continuous monitoring of ICU patients at the district hospital using AI-supported systems that analyse real-time clinical data, detect early signs of deterioration, and generate alerts for doctors.Officials said the platform integrates bedside devices and hospital information systems into a central dashboard, allowing specialists stationed at the base centre to review cases and guide on-ground teams round the clock.Speaking at the inauguration, Nadda said, “India is excelling globally in vaccination, affordable health care services, and medical infrastructure. Innovative initiatives such as this AI-enabled e-ICU demonstrate the power of technology in strengthening healthcare infrastructure. The platform will provide continuous expert oversight and remote guidance to improve outcomes for critically ill patients and encourage hospitals to extend quality care to communities.”The initiative was rolled out under the corporate social responsibility programme of the Yashoda Group of Hospitals and is intended to bridge gaps in specialist availability at district hospitals.Dr P N Arora, chairman and managing director of the hospital group, said the command centre combines intelligent monitoring and real-time data analysis to extend the reach of intensive care beyond tertiary hospitals. “Our goal is to provide continuous guidance to healthcare teams on the ground, enabling timely and precise interventions so critically ill patients in district and peripheral hospitals receive specialised care,” he said.Officials said the programme will also support capacity building through knowledge sharing, standardised treatment protocols, and structured training for medical staff. Authorities indicated that similar AI-enabled ICU integrations may be expanded to additional district hospitals as part of efforts to create a connected critical care network and improve patient outcomes.
