The victim, identified as Nitin Nagar, was attacked by 3 assailants allegedly due to a long-standing rivalry. The brutal killing took place in front of his wife, Shweta, who was threatened at gunpoint when she tried to intervene.The deceased, identified as Nitin Nagar, operated an RO water plant and an e-rickshaw agency in the village. He was involved in a previous murder case dating back to August 17, 2024, when a villager named Vinay was shot dead. Nitin was named as the main accused in that case and was sent to jail. He was released on bail in August last year. The matter is currently pending before the Gautam Buddh Nagar court.On Tuesday, Nitin was scheduled to appear in court for a hearing in the earlier case. According to his wife Shweta’s complaint, Nitin stepped out of their house and went to a friend’s home in a nearby lane. At around 10 am, as he was returning towards the main road and heading home, 3 accused emerged from another lane armed with pistols and a knife.“Nitin was walking when 3-4 people attacked with guns and knives. First, they fired their guns, then they slashed him with knives. We brought him to the hospital,” said one passer-by.CCTV footage accesed by TOI shows several men dragging the victim to the ground and shooting him multiple times. The footage also shows a woman stepping out of a house, while one of the accused is seen threatening the victim with a gun.One of the attackers allegedly fired at Nitin from close range. He managed to dodge the first shot and began running towards his house to save himself. However, another assailant fired again. As Nitin attempted to escape, his foot slipped into a drain near his house, causing him to fall. He tried to get up and run, but 2 of the attackers caught up with him and knocked him down again.Police said one of the accused reloaded his pistol and fired 4 more shots at Nitin. Meanwhile, the third attacker reached the spot and repeatedly stabbed him in the neck and other parts of the body, leaving him critically injured. The entire sequence unfolded within minutes, creating panic in the area. Residents present in the lane fled to safety upon hearing gunshots.Hearing the gunfire, Shweta rushed out after opening the gate of her house. However, one of the accused pointed a pistol at her, forcing her to retreat in fear. The attackers then fled the scene.Family members immediately rushed Nitin, who was lying in a pool of blood, to Kailash Hospital. Despite efforts by doctors, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.Passers-by identified the attackers as Nitin alias Kalla and Vishal, who fired guns, and Jitendra and Sachin, who attacked Nitin with knives. They are all relatives of Rajesh Ramola.“This is basically a gang war. All of this is being done by the orders of Rajesh Ramola. A year ago, my cousin Nitin bought a Hyundai Verna. People were jealous that he was just 24 years old and was able to buy expensive cars and go to cafés. Many people tried to extort money from him, but he did not oblige. They would stop him on the street and threaten him. These are the same people who attacked him,” said Nitin’s cousin.“Earlier, Rajesh Ramola tried to kill Nitin many times. The matter was filed with the police, but no investigation was carried out. Today, when Nitin was attacked, Ramola was standing on the street and shouting that Nitin must not be spared. Some 10-15 people were in the street with him. The attackers also fired guns at me,” said Ramchandran, who was present at the scene.“We filed complaints many times. These people also set fire to his tempos 6 months ago. But there was no investigation,” Nitin’s cousin said.“Just a short while ago, Nitin’s father Vinay Nagar died under mysterious circumstances. He had marks on his neck. There was no investigation into that matter either,” said Nitin’s cousin.“We just want justice. Nitin has a wife and young children,” said the cousin.Based on Shweta’s written complaint, police registered a case of murder. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Kumar said that 2 accused were taken into custody for questioning, and teams were deployed to identify and arrest the remaining suspects.
