Aizawl: Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), the Mizo students’ apex body has expressed concern over the highhanded activities of the central agencies in Mizoram without the sanctions of the state govt and the state police, a press statement issued by the student body said on Saturday.A team of MZP leaders stated this while meeting the state chief secretary Khilli Ram Meena saying that central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Income Tax department are working ‘unhindered without the sanction and knowledge of the state govt and the police.’They alleged that the agencies sometimes unnecessarily harass people of the state. “While the MZP is of the opinion that the law will take its own course, harassment meted out to traders and the general public is uncalled for and amounting to creating unnecessary problems to the local populace,” MZP president C Lalremruata said.Lalremruata said arbitrary actions are unwarranted and against the interest of Mizoram.A press statement issued by the MZP said that the chief secretary agreed to take up the matter with appropriate authorities and the agencies.The student body also took up the issue of reforming the Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) in order to again instil confidence in the institution by the students, especially job aspirants.
