Bhubaneswar: A 22-year-old woman from Nayagarh district, employed with a pharmaceutical company in Bhubaneswar, died allegedly by suicide on Wednesday while on a video call with a man, according to police sources.Her body was found hanging in her rented accommodation in the Unit-III area under Kharavel Nagar police limits. She shared the room with another working woman. “The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation. We are working to determine the reasons behind the suicide,” said an officer of Kharavel Nagar police station.Police have sent the victim’s phone to the cyber forensic laboratory for examination. “We will question the man she was speaking to before her death. Her social media activity and call records are also being scrutinised,” the officer said.According to police, around 7 am she asked her roommate to go to the market to buy fish. She then locked herself inside the room, reportedly made a video call, and hanged herself. No suicide note was found. “We broke open the door to retrieve the body,” the officer said.Her family members said they were unaware of any stress she might have been facing. “She did not share anything with us. We are not aware if she had been under stress,” a relative stated.
