Chennai: A 22-year-old man, who possessed 485g of opium, was arrested by Seven Wells police on Thursday. The arrest was made during an anti-narcotics intelligence unit crackdown on drug networks across the city. A special team acted on a tip-off and intercepted a suspicious person near a godown on Bashyakaralu Street in Seven Wells on Thursday. When the team frisked him, he was found in possession of a substance in paste form, later identified as opium, which he was hiding for sale. Police said the suspect, P Sachin, was a resident of MKB Nagar. He was arrested and the contraband, weighing 485g, was seized. The officials sent samples of the opium for forensic analysis.
