Kanpur: The body of a 20-year-old youth was found in a field outside a village in Kannauj on Sunday morning, with the family alleging that he was murdered by his girlfriend and her family.According to police, the body, which bore severe injuries on the face and head, was found about 500 metres from the man’s residence in Leelapurwa village.Upon receiving information about the incident, Additional SP Ajay Kumar reached the spot with police teams and initiated an investigation.The family told police that the youth, Sachin Dohre, worked in a private firm in New Delhi and had secretly returned to the village on Saturday evening, allegedly on the girl’s instructions.Preliminary police inquiry found that the man was in a relationship with the girl and her family had strong objections to it. This had led to altercations in the past.Sachin’s mother, Ranno Devi, told police that the girl frequently asked him to return from Delhi, but this time he had not informed his family about his visit.She further alleged that the girl and her family were involved in the murder, claiming that the girl had informed the family about Sachin’s death.She also said that in January she had a severe altercation with the girl’s family over their relationship and had submitted a written complaint to the Manimau outpost police. However, she said the police had brokered a compromise between the two sides.The family alleges that due to the same rivalry, the girl’s family called Sachin to the village and got him killed before informing them.Additional SP Ajay Kumar said, “The young man’s death occurred under suspicious circumstances. The investigation is being carried out on the basis of the allegations made by the family members and the evidence collected.”Further action will be taken after the postmortem report and completion of the investigation.
