Jaipur: Police here Wednesday busted a gang for allegedly using a same-sex dating app to lure men to isolated locations, where they were assaulted, threatened and robbed.Police have arrested two suspects and seized an SUV used in the crime.DCP (West) Prashant Kiran said police had received multiple complaints about men being contacted through Grindr and subsequently called to secluded places, where they were allegedly targeted by the gang.Following the complaints, Karni Vihar police formed a special team to identify those behind the alleged attacks and establish whether the incidents were connected. The team collected intelligence, monitored the activities of suspected members and worked to establish their movements.The investigation led police to Anil Rulania (21) and Madan Nehra (23), who were arrested in connection with a case registered at Karni Vihar police station. Police also seized a Scorpio allegedly used to transport the victims.According to investigators, the accused allegedly used Grindr to establish contact with prospective victims before arranging meetings at locations where there were few people around. Once the victims arrived, they were allegedly assaulted and robbed and threatened with exposure to prevent them from approaching police.Police are now examining the accused’s phones and other evidence to determine whether they were involved in similar incidents elsewhere and whether more people were part of the alleged operation.The arrested men were identified as Anil Rulania, a resident of Rulania Ki Dhani in Maroth, Kuchaman-Didwana, and Madan Nehra, a resident of Dhaba Wali Dhani in Dhodhi, Jaipur Rural.The operation was conducted under the direction of Additional DCP (West) Rajesh Gupta, supervision of ACP Jhotwara Shiv Kumar Bhardwaj and leadership of Karni Vihar SHO Sawai Singh.Police said the two accused were being questioned and efforts were underway to identify other alleged members of the gang and establish the number of people who may have been targeted.
