Bhilwara: The District Special Team of Tonk Saturday arrested two people for cyber fraud worth Rs 90 lakh under under Operation Hunter.The accused have been identified as Namonarayan Meena and Aakash Meena, residents of Tonk. The accused used to carry out fraud through fake links and more than 100 fake SIM cards. Around 21 online complaints were registered against them on the National Cyber Crime NCRP portal. Bank passbooks, ATM cards, debit cards, credit cards, several mobile phones, and two expensive power bikes were also seized from them.Tonk SP Rajesh Kumar Meena said Operation Hunter was being run by the Police Headquarters for the prevention of cyber crime under which two accused were detained Saturday in the Purani Tonk police station area. Upon the exposure of cyber fraud worth Rs 90 lakh, a case was registered against them and they were arrested, he said.During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had carried out cyber fraud using more than 100 fake mobile SIMs so far. They had issued mobile SIMs under different names. To make common people victims of fraud, they used to commit cyber fraud by sending links through WhatsApp via fake trade links and fake insurance companies. Police said the accused were being interrogated about cyber fraud committed at other places.
