Bengaluru: Two men, believed to be foreign nationals, allegedly attempted to trespass into the Kadugodi Metro depot near Whitefield Thursday reportedly to draw graffiti on coaches. The duo used a rope ladder to scale the nearly 15-foot-high compound wall of the depot.Sources said they carried spray paint cans when security personnel on duty noticed them midway through their climb. On seeing the guards approach, the two men quickly climbed down the rope ladder and attempted to flee. The two men were confronted by a cowherd, Shivu, and his friend. However, fearing they could be armed, the locals refrained from catching hold of them and alerted security personnel at the depot gates.Shivu told TOI that the duo spoke in English, which he could not understand. The sources said a Namma Metro train was stationed inside the depot at the time of the incident.BMRCL filed a complaint at the Kadugodi police station, stating that two unidentified foreign nationals attempted trespassing. An FIR was registered. “Their exact intentions will be known only after a detailed police investigation. Their nationality, ideology and motives will become clear once enquiries progress,” a source said.Officials pointed out that similar incidents involving graffiti by foreign nationals had been reported in the past. In Sept 2022, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad detained four Italian citizens for painting graffiti on a Metro train parked in a depot in that state ahead of the inauguration of the service by the prime minister.
