Doda, Jul 25: At least two people lost their lives, while five others sustained injuries after a tempo bearing registration number JK06B-8096 met with a tragic road accident at Jathali Mohalla in Doda district on Saturday.
According to initial reports, the tempo was travelling from Jammu to Mohalla when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge into a deep gorge. The vehicle was completely mangled in the crash.
Soon after the accident, local residents, police and rescue teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital and later referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Doda, for advanced treatment.
Doctors at GMC Doda provided initial medical care to the injured. Owing to the critical condition of three victims, they were subsequently referred to Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, for specialised treatment, while the remaining injured continue to receive medical attention.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
