Jamshedpur: Two alleged cyber fraudsters were arrested from East Singhbhum district for duping a Punjab resident of Rs 3.08 lakh, police said on Saturday. The accused were identified as Vikash Barik, 20, and Ajay Kumar Nayak alias Sonu Nayak, 31.The victim, identified as Karan Jain, a resident of Patiala, in his complaint on July 7 claimed that the accused duped him by sending a fraudulent link on his mobile phone. The complaint was forwarded to East Singhbhum police through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) via the Pratibimb app.Acting on the complaint, a special police team led by Musaboni subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Rohit Kumar Rajwar raided Khairbani village under Dumaria police station limits and arrested the two on Friday.“During interrogation, both confessed to their involvement in the crime,” SP (city) Lalit Meena said.They told police that Krishna Ojha, a resident of Dahigora in Ghatsila, is the kingpin of the racket.“The accused said they used to send fake links to mobile phones and fraudulently obtain money from victims,” the SP said, adding that police also recovered documents and phones used in the crime. Police are conducting raids to arrest Ojha, who is absconding.
