Prayagraj: Two men wanted in a cattle slaughter case were arrested after they were injured in an alleged exchange of fire with police in the Hathgaon area of Fatehpur district late Wednesday.The accused, identified as Shamim, 28, a resident of Rajjipur Chhivlah, and Aftab Alam, 35, a resident of Peeranpur in Fatehpur, sustained bullet injuries to their legs during the encounter on the Hathgaon-Ambapur Road and were sent to the hospital for treatment.Police said the two were wanted in connection with a case registered under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act at Hathgaon police station.During the arrest, police recovered one illegal .315-bore country-made pistol and one live cartridge from each accused. Three spent .315-bore cartridges were also seized. Besides, police seized three iron choppers, a wooden cutting block, a blue polythene sheet, and a stolen Passion Pro motorcycle without a registration number.
