KAUSHAMBI: A 19-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death by the family members of a young woman he was reportedly dating after he visited her house in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi district, police said on Friday.Three teams have been formed to track down the accused, who have been absconding since the incident.The incident took place on Thursday night in Mahua Khada village under the Manjhanpur police station limits.According to police, Ram Badan Lodhi, a resident of Osa village, lodged a complaint alleging that his distant relative, Rakesh Lodhi, assaulted his son Shiv Prasad, resulting in his death.Police said Rakesh Lodhi informed Ram Badan over the phone that his son had been attacked.Family members rushed to the accused’s house and took the injured youth to the district hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way.Manjhanpur Circle Officer Shivank Singh said preliminary investigations indicated that Shiv Prasad was in a relationship with Rakesh Lodhi’s daughter and had gone to meet her at her residence on Thursday night when the assault allegedly took place.The officer added that the young woman also sustained injuries during the incident and is undergoing treatment at the district hospital. Her condition is stated to be stable.Police and senior officials visited the spot after receiving information, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family, police have registered a murder case against Rakesh Lodhi and his family members.Two suspects are being questioned, while efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused.(With PTI inputs)
