Amravati: A group of 5-7 men allegedly gang-raped an 18-year-old college-going girl near Chandur Railway road on Saturday night. The seriously-injured girl has been hospitalized, said police who have arrested five suspects.The incident occurred after the accused intercepted the girl and her friend while they were taking a bike ride. According to police, the accused had been following the duo for some time. They stopped them near Bhankheda forest, beat up the girl’s friend, and dragged her into the forest where they raped her. The accused also threatened to kill the girl and her friend if they informed anyone, said police.The girl’s friend managed to escape and informed police. A team was immediately dispatched, and the accused were traced. The incident has sent shock waves across Amravati, with locals demanding justice for the girl.
