Kolkata: In the pre-poll deployment of central forces, 30 companies will be deployed in Kolkata, 12 of which have already arrived in the first phase. Another 18 companies will join in the second phase from March 10.The EC has finalized the CAPF deployment for the second phase. In the first phase, 240 companies were deployed and 240 more will arrive in the next phase.In the first phase, the EC deployed 30 companies in North 24 Parganas. Of these 240 companies to be deployed in the next phase, North 24 Parganas will get another 28 companies, making the district with the highest deployment. Kolkata will get 18 companies in the second phase. In its three police districts, Barasat, Bongaon and Basirhat and two commissionerates, Barrackpore and Bidhannagar, the total strength in North 24 Parganas will rise to 58 companies by next Tuesday. From March 10, Murshidabad will have 35 companies and South 24 Parganas, which already has 15 companies, will get 33 more. The deployment includes 28 companies in East Midnapore, 27 in Hooghly, 25 in East Burdwan, 22 in Nadia, and 21 each in Howrah and Birbhum. Purulia and West Midnapore will have 20 companies each. North Dinajpur will have 19 companies, Malda 18, West Burdwan 17, Darjeeling 16, Cooch Behar 15, Bankura 13, Jhargram 11, and South Dinajpur and Jalpaiguri 10 companies each. Hooghly will have 16 companies and Howrah 11 and 10 for its rural and urban areas. In Nadia, the total number will be 22 and North Dinajpur 19. Siliguri Police Commissionerate will get five.
