Lucknow: A 17-year-old girl was murdered and her body dumped in the Gomti in Madiaon.The victim’s uncle has been arrested. Police said the teenager, who lost her parents, lived with her aunt and brother.Her aunt married the accused around one-and-a-half years ago.On Wednesday, the man returned home and claimed he had fallen from a ladder. He told his wife he was going to get medicines and took the girl with him.Around 45 minutes later, the accused called the victim’s brother, claiming that unidentified men in a car intercepted them near the Mama colony turn, abused him and abducted the girl.The family rushed to the spot and alerted the police.Inspector Shivanand Mishra and his team reached the spot and examined CCTV footage along the route. “No car matching the description was seen, while the accused was captured moving with the girl in multiple clips. Police also found him in an intoxicated state, further deepening suspicion,” said Mishra.Police began a search along the riverbank and the victim’s slippers and clothes were found from bushes near the Gomti. An SDRF team was called in.The girl’s body was found in the Gomti near the pontoon bridge. Mishra said that swabs have been sent to FSL for further examination. “Autopsy revealed drowning as the cause of her death,” he said.Police said that they have booked the uncle on charges of rape and murder.Additional DCP, north zone, Rishabh Runwal said that a probe is underway.
