Prayagraj: A 17-year-old boy was detained by police on charges of murdering his 20 years old wife and dumping her body near National Highway under pass, Khaga in Fatehpur district on Jun 12. The minor boy reportedly carried the body of his wife on a motorcycle. Police are in search of the boy’s father.The deceased woman’s father, S S Pandey, resident of Ubhari (Ghurpur) village, lodged complaint with Bara police station in Prayagraj district that his family had been unable to communicate with their daughter for two days despite repeated efforts. He said his daughter was married on Feb 20, 2025 and there was no communication with her since Jun 11. When he visited her in-laws’ house, the boy’s parents concealed the fact that she had been murdered and said she was missing from home.After the body was found in Khara in Fatehpur district, police made efforts for its identification. On Thursday, when police detained the accused and quizzed him, he confessed and told police that he murdered his wife, who was older than him, because she taunted him and called him “useless”. He also told police that on Jun 11, he strangled her to death and his father helped him dump the body in Fatehpur. Police registered FIR against parents of the minor boy, residents of Kotwaran Ka purwa (Bara), under section 85 and 126(2) of BNS.DCP ( Yamuna Nagar) Vivek Chandra Yadav told TOI that police detained the accused for quizzing and were looking for his parents who were also involved in the incident.
