Koraput: Jeypore Town police arrested 15 people for alleged gambling, and seized Rs 3.5 lakh in cash during a raid on Jiru Pathan Lane at Parabeda around 5:30pm on Sunday. During the operation, police seized eight motorcycles, 15 mobile phones, 10 sealed packets of playing cards and 52 loose playing cards from the spot.“Acting on reliable information, police conducted a raid,” said SDPO (Jeypore) Archita Mittal. The accused were allegedly found playing the local gambling game ‘Mangapatta’ while placing cash bets. Mittal said five of the arrested persons were habitual offenders with previous involvement in gambling cases, and they were produced in court.
