Ahmedabad: Police in Motera intercepted a loading rickshaw carrying suspicious parcels and recovered 144 cans of beer during night patrolling. The Chandkheda police later registered a case on Friday against an Adalaj resident under BNS sections 336(2) (forgery), 338 (forgery of valuable security), and 340(2) (use of forged documents). According to the complaint filed by constable Rajan Navratsinh, police received a tip-off that liquor was being transported under the guise of regular courier consignments. Acting on the information, officers stopped a loading rickshaw near Motera village. Two individuals were detained: the rickshaw driver, Shailesh Patni, and a second man who arrived on a two-wheeler, identified as Dhaval Raval. Police found four parcels wrapped in white sacks inside the vehicle. The packages were labelled as shipments from Mumbai to Ahmedabad and appeared to be standard delivery cargo. When opened at the police station, they were found to contain six cartons of beer, totalling 144 tins, valued at approximately Rs 25,920. Further scrutiny of the accompanying paperwork revealed discrepancies. The documents described industrial goods such as wires and metal materials, leading police to conclude that the bills were forged to conceal the liquor consignment.
