Akola: A cloudburst-like rain spell lashed Patur in Akola district on Saturday evening, leaving large parts of the town submerged within a few hours. Patur recorded 140 mm of rainfall, the highest in the district, triggering flash floods in low-lying areas, overflowing rivers and streams, and disrupting normal life. Several major roads were submerged under 2 to 3 feet of water. A major mishap was narrowly averted at Deulgaon village in Patur taluka, where a four-wheeler was swept away by the swollen Isvishwar stream. No one was inside the car when the incident occurred.Incessant rain also caused the Suvarna river and several other rivers and streams in the taluka to overflow, disrupting connectivity with the nearby villages.
