Panchkula: Panchkula police has strengthened its security network by setting up 12 special checkpoints at the district’s entry and exit points and deploying 50 India Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel to man them.The checkpoints are aimed at monitoring suspicious persons and vehicles, preventing crime and enabling swift sealing of escape routes following any incident.DCP (crime and traffic) Amrinder Singh inspected the checkpoints and directed deployed personnel to remain vigilant, disciplined and professional while on duty.During the inspection, he instructed police teams to immediately implement the district sealing plan and launch checking operations whenever a crime is reported. He also ordered strict action against traffic violators and stressed better coordination among police stations, police posts, crime units, emergency response vehicles (ERVs), PCR teams and rider squads to ensure effective law and order management.The DCP also reviewed all 16 ERVs, 28 rider teams and 12 PCR teams, directing them to stay alert and respond promptly to emergency calls.Of the 28 rider teams, 10 will now function on the lines of ERVs with dedicated route charts to help them reach emergency locations in the shortest possible time.Singh further directed all teams to prioritise women’s safety by ensuring immediate response to complaints, adopting a sensitive approach and conducting regular patrols around schools, colleges, public places and crime-prone areas, particularly those affected by drug trafficking.The initiative is aimed at reducing police response time and enhancing public safety across the district.
