Chandigarh: UT police arrested a Gurdaspur resident for allegedly possessing 10.32g of heroin in Sector 38 Monday night. The accused, Joga Singh, was apprehended after he allegedly tried to flee on spotting a police patrol near a bus stop.Police said a team from Sector 39 police station was conducting checks on commuters and anti-social elements when it noticed the suspect behaving suspiciously. During a search, cops recovered heroin from his possession.The contraband was seized and a case under the NDPS Act registered. The accused was produced before a local court, which sent him to judicial custody. Police are probing the source of the drugs and possible links to a local peddling network.
