Akola: Under the ongoing ‘Operation Prahar’, the Ramdaspeth police in Akola seized 11.835 kg ganja and arrested three youngsters from neighbouring Buldhana district near the railway station area on Thursday. Total recovery, including two mobile phones, stood at Rs3.21 lakh.According to police officials, the operation was executed after police inspector Shirish Khandare received information that a group of individuals would be arriving in the railway station vicinity carrying ganja in two bags.A police team, under the guidance of superintendent of police Archit Chandak, laid a trap near the chief health inspector’s building at the railway station square. The suspects were intercepted and taken into custody for questioning, during which a significant quantity of ganja was found in their possession.The arrested accused have been identified as Gaurav Vijay Ingle (21), Rahul Balasaheb Deshmukh (22), and Devanand Gajanan Shelke (23), all residents of Dongav in Mehkar taluka of Buldhana district. A case was registered at Ramdaspeth police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, including Sections 8(c) and 20(b). Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the seized contraband.The operation was carried out under the supervision of senior officials, including additional superintendent of police BP Reddy and sub-divisional police officer Sudarshan Patil. The police team included sub-inspectors Nilesh Gaikwad and Pradeep Jogdand, along with other police personnel and members of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Amravati.
