T’puram: Around 10 sovereigns of gold ornaments were stolen from a house in Aryanad on Tuesday. The theft occurred at residence of Anoop V and Nivya, at Vellanad.According to police, the incident took place between 6pm and 7.45pm. The couple had left for Nivya’s house at Ottasekharamangalam around 6pm. When Anoop returned around 7.45pm, he noticed that the rear door of the house was broken open. On checking inside, he found that both cupboards in the bedroom were opened and their belongings were scattered.The stolen items included three gold necklaces, two lockets, a child’s necklace, two bracelets, a pair of earrings, an ear chain, two children’s bangles and nine rings. A silver chain worth around Rs 1,000 was also reported missing.A dog squad and forensic experts examined the scene. Aryanad police registered a case and launched a probe. TNN
