Tirupur: Ten students of Iduvampalayam Government Higher Secondary School who cleared NEET 2026 were felicitated on Monday, with Vetry, an NGO presenting each of them a cash reward of ₹25,000 to recognise their achievement amid challenging socio-economic circumstances. The NGO also presented professional stethoscopes to all 10 NEET-qualified students.S Rajeshwari, IPS, Tirupur city police commissioner who was the chief guest, congratulated the students and asked them to treat the success as lifelong motivation. She also urged students to remain focused on education and to avoid negative influences, stressing that sustained discipline and hard work would be crucial in overcoming future hurdles.Head mistress Rajeswari said all ten successful candidates were from economically marginalised families, with several of them being raised by single parents. She said two students cleared the examination in their first attempt, while eight others qualified as repeaters after persistent preparation. She added that the number of NEET qualifiers from the school has risen from three to 10 this year and expressed confidence that the figure would increase in the coming academic years. She also acknowledged the contribution of the NGO which has been associated with the school for two decades and added that it has contributed to the school’s development in all aspects.T R Sivaram, president, Vetry recalled that in 2006 the school had around 450 students, during which the NGO mobilised industrial philanthropists to help buy eight acres of land and support infrastructure expansion in 2007. Facilities including 24 classrooms, modern toilets and other utility structures were built at an estimated cost of ₹2.5 crore, he said. With enrolment now at 3,600, the campus offers dedicated coaching for competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE.A Punitha, Tirupur district chief educational officer, school head mistress Rajeswari, and members of industrial donors who have supported the institution’s development initiatives were present at the ceremony.
