Patna: A 19-year-old youth was arrested and a juvenile detained within five hours of a Class X student allegedly being harassed on her way to school in Darbhanga’s Jamalpur area, police said.The incident took place around 9am on Monday when the student was heading to school for her mid-term examination. Police said two youths on a motorcycle followed her, allegedly harassed her and tried to forcibly make her sit on their motorcycle near Kiratpur.She managed to escape and hid in a nearby shop. The shopkeeper confronted the men, who allegedly assaulted him. They fled after more people gathered, abandoning their motorcycle.The student informed her teachers, while villagers alerted the Dial 112 emergency response team. Biraul sub-divisional police officer Prabhakar Tiwari reached the spot and formed an SIT.Police registered an FIR under different sections of the Pocso Act.On the directions of Darbhanga SSP Jagunath Reddy Jalaraddi, police arrested Raju Sada, 19, of Kiratpur, and detained a juvenile. The motorcycle was recovered.Jamalpur SHO Mukesh Kumar said the accused were identified through CCTV footage. “Further legal action against the arrested accused and the juvenile was being taken through the appropriate court proceedings,” he said.
