Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday arrested three persons, including an assistant manager of a well-known bank, in an ongoing investigation into a 1.6 crore digital arrest harassment case, following Supreme Court directions.CBI officials said searches were done in five different locations in Telangana and AP. The case pertains to a senior citizen who was harassed by cyber fraudsters on the pretext of digital arrest and was made to transfer 1.6 crore. “Investigation has revealed that the defrauded funds were routed to a bank account opened fraudulently in the name of a company, to facilitate receipt of proceeds of cyber fraud,” CBI officials said. The other two accused who were arrested are accused by CBI of playing an active role in the opening of mule accounts, to facilitate fraud.tnn
