“The matter will be sent for investigations. Money laundering angle will also be looked into in this connection by the required agency,” WB CM Suvendu Adhikari said.
Meanwhile, Adhikari also said Durga Puja grants should be given to the organisers who genuinely require financial assistance and will decide on the issue later. However, he pointed out that there will be more Durga Pujas in Bengal.
Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Adhikari said, “The government will stand by those who cannot organise Durga Puja without financial support.” Durga Puja grants were introduced during former CM Mamata Banerjee regime and starting from Rs 10,000, it was increased to Rs one lakh in 2025.
Adhikari announced that on June 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will come to Tarakeswar in Bengal and several developmental projects will be inaugurated by him. The Bengal Chief Minister also said the PM will come to Kolkata on June 21 on Yoga Diwas and urged all to participate in Yoga with the PM in Kolkata.
Adhikari was speaking on the achievements of the PM Narendra Modi’s government, which completed 12 years today even as the double engine government in Bengal has completed one month.
Speaking on removal of encroachments, he clarified that he is accountable to the citizens and he will do accordingly. However, the hawkers, encroaching legally or illegally, will be given alternative locations and support of certain central schemes.”The Constitution is of prime importance to us and we will do it for the best interests. All central benefits have been included in Bengal and several MoUs are being signed,” CM said.
Speaking about the key achievements of the Narendra Modi government, Adhikari said, “Popular leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi has broken all records and created history. Service to the nation has always been his main motto. The Prime Minister prefers to call himself the ‘Pradhan Sevak’. He has been working continuously for the country.”
