Nagpur: The Maharashtra govt on Thursday informed the Nagpur bench of Bombay high court that it granted administrative approval for ₹31.33 crore to rehabilitate traders who lost their shops after Tekdi flyover was demolished, with the land acquisition process for the rehabilitation site now in its final stage.The submission was made through an additional affidavit filed by the Urban Development Department in response to the high court ’s direction seeking an updated status of the rehabilitation process.The matter pertains to petitions filed by 35 traders who were displaced and sought rehabilitation.During the previous hearing on July 10, the HC directed the govt to place on record the latest progress in implementing the rehabilitation plan.According to the affidavit, NMC submitted a proposal under the Nagarotthan Mahabhiyan for acquisition of land required for the rehabilitation project. The proposal received state approval on March 5, 2025.The govt further stated that administrative approval for ₹31.33 crore was granted on March 12, 2026, to implement the rehabilitation scheme.It also informed the court that ₹5.9 crore has already been released as the first instalment to facilitate the project.The HC earlier directed the authorities to complete the rehabilitation process within a reasonable time frame. Following those directions, the state placed on record details relating to fund approval, land acquisition and the subsequent steps being taken to implement the rehabilitation scheme.
