Patna: A 21-year-old youth was stabbed to death late Saturday night while returning from an orchestra programme organised during Chaiti Durga Puja celebrations at Nadiyami village under the Kusheshwar Asthan police station area in Darbhanga district.According to police, the deceased was identified as Mithilesh Tanti (21), a resident of Mahri village. The murder was the outcome of an old feud with youths from the neighbouring Nadiyami village.Mithilesh and his friends had gone to Nadiyami village to watch the orchestra programme. While returning home, they were allegedly intercepted at a secluded spot by a group of youths from the village, who attacked them with sticks and a knife. Mithilesh died on the spot. His friend, Santosh Tanti, who tried to intervene, was assaulted and sustained injuries. He was admitted to Sadar hospital and is stated to be out of danger.Following the incident, police rushed to the spot and deployed additional forces to maintain law and order in the area. Kusheshwar Asthan SHO Gaurav Prasad said, “An FIR has been lodged on the basis of a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, Munni Devi, against seven named accused and more than eight unidentified persons.”The SHO said a clash had reportedly broken out between the victim and the accused during the orchestra programme, after which Mithilesh was abused and threatened.“Four accused — Ganga Mukhiya, Angad Mukhiya, Abodh Kumar Mukhiya and Ashish Kumar Rai — have been arrested and sent to judicial custody. Raids are on to arrest the remaining accused,” he said.Police also said Mithilesh’s marriage was scheduled for June this year.
